This version has unified colors for skin and skin shading and I'd say it's the default one. I think this turned out great.
Legs were traced from that one shot right after Darkar turns Bloom into Dark Bloom in his keep. That frame of Dark Bloom has slight differences, mainly that her clothes were a little greener and proportions were overall skinnier. I then just slightly moved and transformed the traced frame's legs to connect to the body. The leg shading was a bit of a freestyle, since the original had a completely different light source.
The boots she wears are actually just the same boot, but one is hidden behind her calf. I think it hides enough so that it isn't immediately obvious it's copied (please forgive me, but I was feeling a little tired and didn't want to make another boot lol).
Last detail, the nails were changed to be pointy/claw-like. I didn't really mind the flat/rectangular ones before, but I rewatched some more scenes and just surmised it must have been a frame deformation in the original traced frame. I think I made them good enough, I was free-styling the proper curvature a lot though lol, since I didn't want to look at reference pictures "just for nails".
Everything said about the default/first picture can be said here. The only difference should be the colours on the legs. The original frame and by extension my previous trace, seemed to darken the legs, probably due to a spell Dark Bloom was deflecting. When I used those colours, this was the result after adding legs. I like to think this makes her wear a very see-through black pantyhose. This then results in an
unintended similarity to her purple pantyhose from the Nickleodeon season 2 special. I still like the look, hence I include it in the post :)
So, I told a friend that I'll be giving Dark Bloom legs and that I could give her anything down below, if I really wanted to. So he asked for a spider body, like Witch Quelaag from Dark Souls has. I thought it'd be funny, so I said yeah.
This turned out to be quite the excercise. First, I wanted a Winx spider. Turns out there's quite a few of them. I went with the ones from season 3's episode, when the Winx are going through Solaria's caves with transformed Stella. There were many shots of the creatures, so I got loads of reference pics, though I used like 4 in the end.
First problem I noticed was the coloring. The spiders are yellow-ish red, I needed something to go with the outfit more, at least gray if nothing else. The spiders did have red eyes and some very dark, practically black, parts, so that wasn't too much of a hassle. I just made the body (very generously using the word 'just' here) and shifted the colours later, except the eyes.
Next issue was that the spider reference images all showed the spiders with moving legs - something utterly useless for my stationary pose I wanted. In the end, I just copied general structures as I saw them and attached the legs to what I deemed "sufficiently spread" parts of the spider chest. I also simulated perspective change for the legs with my ars, which brought results as you see - not super unified, but it gets the point across, i.e. the spider is slightly rotated to the left of the camera.
Last issue was scaling and Dark Bloom's positioning. Solaria spiders are as big as a fairy, so I had to look at Quelaag references and enlarge the body properly, until Dark Bloom was a rather small piece of the whole picture. Then it was just about adjusting line widths.
I also removed Dark Bloom's skirt and wings. Skirt is unnecessary, as her lower body goes into the spider head, and wings are silly for such a big spider-being lol.
Season 3 Solaria cave spider. ALT text of Dark Bloom with the spider body couldn't be expanded further, so I'll add that another issue of the spiders is that they have only 6 legs, not 8. So I had to add another one myself. They are most definitely spiders though. I sure hope I won't ever meet with this creature again.
Another piece of info, the shading might look all over the place... because it is. I was super tired when finishing this and just decided every leg would have light coming at it from the leg's outward part, even though the light is obviously coming from top-left. But I think the piece is still alright.
Last trivia piece - the filename for Spider-Dark Bloom/Queloom is actually named "Dark Bloom - Wizgiz leg day.svg". I imagine Wizgiz could definitely teach some spells like this. I wonder if the fairies prank each other sometimes with the spells he teaches, "Pumpkin Head" spell and all that jazz.
A little addendum to my prev post about a traced Dark Bloom frame: I added legs👍and a season 3 spider 🕷️ and per a friend's request, a Quelaag style mix of Dark Bloom and said spider🧚♀️+🕷️.
More info about each piece is in the ALT texts.
Hope you like 'em :)
