Disney fans will recognize Jerry Goldsmith as the composer of the Soarin' Over California soundtrack. According to the Imagineers at the #D23 #DCA25 panel last weekend, Goldsmith jumped at the chance to score the new attraction as he was a native Californian and an aviation fan.

Various Disney’s California Adventure iconography. Structures and show buildings featured include Animation Academy, Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!, Soarin’, Carthay Circle Restaurant, Incredicoaster, Pixar Pal-A-Round, Grizzly River Run, and Radiator Springs Racers. The “Guardians” fortress includes references to the Hollywood Tower Hotel and Gothic D logo, colorful fountains are in front of both the coaster and wheel, Grizzly Peak has the park’s opening date carved into the rockwork, the Pixar Place Hotel has references to Paradise Pier, Disneyland Pacific, and the Wanderlust, all names the hotel had previously had. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa can also be seen with the logo for Napa Rose and the Harbor Blvd marquee sporting the original DCA logo and its original Mark I wrap. The Radiator Springs racecar has the number 12, a nod to the attraction’s opening year + the park’s reopening year. Mr. Potato Head appears with his eyes detached; he is a nod to both Toy Story Midway Mania and Engine-Ears Toys. A microscope reveals Heimlich with leaves from Downtown Disney, and Sebastian from The Little Mermaid - Ariel’s Undersea Adventure attraction is waving behind the coaster. And last but not least, a certain “lucky rabbit” can be seen to the far left of the image!

A photo taken in Disney California Adventure of a drained Paradise Bay. The photo is taken from near the carousel and shows the Orange Stinger, Golden Zephyr, Golden Dreams theater, and Ariel's Grotto restaurant. In the drained area there is ongoing construction of what will eventually be the fountains for World of Color.
Hard to believe California Adventure is 25 years old. I was lucky enough to see it a couple weeks before it officially opened. So much has changed since then, as you can see from this panorama I took back when they started building World of Color.

One of my favorite memories of DCA was listening to a father matter of factly describe to his son how they were building a roller coaster in paradise bay. There was a sign advertising World of Color construction a few feet away. #DCA25
