Deu's been gone for a while and Koana only heard rumours of a Cosmic Exploration co-sponsored by Sharlayan. Dealing with all the politics made him really envy his friend, so you can imagine his excitement when one day Deu showed up with an incredible machine and "kidnapped" him for a little test flight.

He got to steer the Vacuum Suit while Deu rambled into his ear about all the technicalities of it. A mix of Sharlayan and Garlean technology sounded incredibly fascinating and Koana definitely enjoyed it more than another crowded gathering at the Palace.

Day 7 - Celebrate #8DaysofKoana2025

Big gatherings in Tuliyollal to celebrate the The Rite of Succession sure can be nice, but Deu somehow knows better what Koana would like. He took the new Vow of Reason on a flight across Tural in his certified Vacuum Suit.

When Thancred rushed after the kidnappers, Deu was left with Koana to wait for any information from him. He felt awkward watching the Second Promise reacting so emotionally, because he never knew how to be a support in such a situation.

Koana probably didn't even think Deu would react to his tantrum and fully expected him to leave. He was surprised to feel Viera's hand on his back and no mockery in his voice.

It was weird, but Deu could understand exactly how Koana felt at that moment. He knew if something would've happened to Kouki, he'd absolutely lose it and turn the entire continent upside down to save him.

It was awkward for both of them - showing such vulnerable side to someone they've only known for a few weeks. And yet it felt comforting for Koana to know Deu was the one who saw him like this and trusted him enough to show his softer side in return.

Day 6 - Vulnerable #8DaysofKoana2025

Back when Wuk Lamat was kidnapped in the middle of the race, Deu witnessed Koana's emotional outburst for the first time. He never knew how to cheer someone up in a vulnerable moment, but could relate to how the Second Promise felt.

Through their journey together, Koana had a lot of time to watch Deu and Kouki interact with each other as brothers. It reminded him of his bond with Lamaty'i and made him feel jealous of the two being able to work together, while he had to go against his sister in the race for the throne.

Koana dropping out of the race for Wuk Lamat's sake came as a surprise to everyone, but most were able to accept his decision immediately. Deu could not. For the first time in forever he was genuinely rooting for someone, happy to see another person with similar views stepping up to change the world. Seeing Koana give up in an instant for the sake of his little sister made him feel betrayed and crushed the bond between them like a worthless insect.

Day 5 - Family #8DaysofKoana2025

Both of them were protective of their adopted younger siblings, but would they be able to understand each other's sacrifices?

During a stop at Tuliyollal, Koana was dragged by Kouki and Faar into one of their team cabins for a thorough analysis. He desperately needed help to "rizz up the nerd bunny" - according to the two. He tried to resist, but somehow wasn't very convincing. As if he actually wanted to learn something useful from them in order to get closer with Deu.

Day 4 - Lesson #8DaysofKoana2025

Koana might've accidentally revealed his interest in Deu to his friends and there was no way out of this for him. Kouki and Faar were more than happy to give him a quick few lessons and tips on how to pick up a difficult Viera.

While Thancred and Urianger were scouting ahead, Koana would usually have the younger entourage with him. He'd activate his tour guide mode and happily talk about the local sights to the willing audience.

Even though Deu couldn't care less about scenic views and sightseeing, he was somehow absorbed in Koana's rambling enough not to notice his brother giving him knowing looks. Kouki has never seen Deu this distracted before, unless it had something to do with machines.

Day 3 - Travel #8DaysofKoana2025

They could deny and mock it all they wanted, but it was painfully obvious Koana and Deu had a certain chemistry and felt good in each other's company.
Kouki couldn't remember ever seeing his brother so interested in another man this much.

Second Promise wasn't sure if the unfortunate heat season was hitting him early this time around or if it's just this weird Viera's presence affecting him this way. Either way, despite being away from his homeland for a while, there was something other than local food he was hungry for.

Was Deucalion teasing him with the way he dressed? It wasn't uncommon for folks to dress lightly in Tural and growing up he's seen more exposed skin than on his Viera companion. Yet he couldn't help having his eyes drawn to Deucalion's physique even when he tried not to stare too much.

The more he stared, the more invasive his thoughts were. What was Deucalion's skin so adorably speckled for? Why was his midriff so aesthetically pleasing? How would it feel to taste it? It definitely smelled nice-- AND WHY ON HEAVENS WAS KOANA THINKING ANY OF THAT??

Second Promise kept digging his nails in his own legs uncontrollably as he stared at Deucalion. This stupidly tall and lanky Viera making him think all these weird stuff. They needed to hurry and finish the Rite of Succession before he does something he'd regret.

Day 2 - Food (with a twist 👀) #8DaysofKoana2025

He might've been born in a land with most delicious local cuisine, but there was something else Koana wanted to sink his teeth in badly. And he wasn't exactly proud of that.

Koana didn't need as many supporters as his sister, so he initially wasn't convinced about the idea of adding even more people to his team. After all, he just wanted security to help him deal with the obstacles and potential sabotage.

Koana couldn't help being intrigued by the notion of someone sharing his views on the innovation and science, though. Especially an outsider, who didn't study a day in Sharlayan. What could they possibly understand without a proper education anyway?

It didn't take Koana long to figure out who exactly is this mysterious genius, though the Viera felt significantly more lax than he expected. On top of that, he brought his own entourage ready to tag along for the journey. Koana was ready to reject this merry band of misfits and move on.

His plans changed as soon as the Viera looked at him. There was something in his eyes and weirdly confident aura, that made the Second Promise reconsider his decision.

Day 1 - First Meeting #8DaysofKoana2025

Since the Third Promise's entourage was bigger than they originally anticipated, Thancred and Urianger suggested an addition to their group as well - particularly one tech-savvy genius nerd, whose ideals aligned with the Second Promise.
