Research: Using AI Can Stifle Innovation. But It Doesn’t Have To. Leaders love AI because it makes knowledge instantly reusable—drafts, code, analysis on demand. A recent study uses a formal model to show what happens when “good-enough” answers become essentially free. As reuse rises, so does productivity but independent exploration falls and innovation flattens. The underlying issue is absorptive capacity—the ability to evaluate, adapt, and improve ideas rather than simply copy them. When reuse requires effort, people learn. When it’s frictionless, fewer invest in discovering better approaches. The solution isn’t to slow AI adoption but to build calibrated friction into tools, workflows, and talent systems—requiring independent attempts, prompting original input, and assessing how people use AI, not just what they produce. AI can make organizations faster overnight. Leaders must ensure it doesn’t make them shallower over time.

Hackerbot-Claw: Adversarial Agent Targets Top GitHub Repos Pillar Security researchers analyzed the hackerbot-claw campaign, we named “Chaos Agent” - the first publicly documented campaign where an AI agent, operating on natural-language instructions, conducted an end-to-end attack against production open-source infrastructure.Within 37 hours, hackerbot-claw identified vulnerable open-source projects, crafted targeted exploits, compromised CI/CD pipelines, and published a malicious extension that turned developers' own AI coding tools into credential-stealing accomplices.

Rising Memory and CPU Prices Could Push Mainstream Notebook Prices Up by Nearly 40%, Says TrendForce For a mainstream notebook with an MSRP of US$900, surging memory prices alone could raise retail prices by more than 30%; combined with CPU price increases, the total price hike could approach 40%. If memory and CPU prices rise simultaneously, their combined share of notebook BOM costs could climb to 58%. CPU supply volatility is also emerging, with shortages beginning to affect entry-level platforms across multiple brands.

Judgment and creativity are all you need. When I joined Imprint a little less than a year ago, our deploys were manual, requiring close human attention to complete. Our database migrations were run manually, too. Developing good software is very possible in those circumstances, but it takes a remarkable attention to detail to do it. It was also possible to develop good software using Subversion and developing by ssh’ing into a remote server to edit PHP files, but the goal is making things easy rather than possible.
