Today I brought the second graders their finished data weaving, with the words of their class pledge laser cut on bark, and yarn representing which parts of the pledge kids said they did well when we collected data for a week in November. Now on the wall with the kids' own weaving projects! #DHmakes
I love this plan. What knowledge from the past do you have in your head to carry forward and teach?
Now I'm tempted to go sign up for some of the more obscure lace making classes at the local lace museum, just out of AI spite. 🤔 #DHmakes

I always feel weird on International Women's Day. Not my holiday but I get grouped in anyway. 🫤
The embroidery I made this week feels kinda apt. "We'll see", a thing my girlfriend and I say a lot, in spilled beads, on an old kids' swimsuit I loved.

Full view of the quilt. On a black background, there are many floral motifs in contrasting colors. A center square of printed fabric has a purple, orange, and gold circular floral design surrounded by a square border of green leaves. Around the central square on the sides are english paper pieced blocks of flowers in purples, golds, reds, and whites. At the corners are green leafy motifs (bridal bouquet). In the outer corners are green/blue butterfly motifs, and there are two flowers (penrose tiles) in between each of the butterflies along the sides. The border of the quilt is blue fabric and the binding is black. The whole thing is about 94” (239cm) square

On Tuesday, we made books! Led by Preventive Conservation Librarian and book artist Jess Ortegon, a group of students and staff sewed a text block and folded a paper binding, based on the binding of our favorite 15th century Italian herbal, LJS 419. #medievalsky #dhmakes
