#stocktoncon print progress. I’ve been tinkering with fonts, as I knew it’d be tough to find something good-looking, and distort well in Photoshop! This was the best result of at least three attempts. Ignore the weird colors - I tend to block things out with high contrast elements. #drawingsky

I think this concept is far enough along to move into Photoshop - I’ll scan this art and draw over it, but you risk preserving mistakes as well as strengths. Other challenges will surface once I apply a font - I can cheat however I like here, but the next step will be less forgiving! #drawingsky

The primary change I’m considering at this point is swapping the words, putting “StocktonCon” on top and “Winter” on the bottom. I’ll try and evoke the font/colors of the Stockton Kings logo, since it’s their home venue. I try to use free fonts unless I can’t get the feeling I want. #drawingsky

I’m happy with this concept, so now I’ll think about filling the rest of the design. I’m not a big fan of backgrounds, and I don’t think an elaborate BG will add much here. I remember liking the circus-poster feeling of this Superman cover, so I decided to mimic that effect with text. #drawingsky

I looked at some online reference, and decided to try staging things from the opposite side of the backboard. The alien’s looking good, but I’m still struggling with Buzz’s pose and proportions. He’s a chunky toy, so sometimes posing him can be tricky (the computer model’s no different)! #drawingsky
