US Drought Monitor class change map comparing conditions from December 23 to December 16. Dryness or drought worsened in parts of the High Plains and South, with an area of improvement in southern Texas. Alaska also saw degradations. Conditions improved in the Pacific Northwest and Montana, plus Hawaii. Parts of the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest saw mixed conditions.

USDM Hot Topic December 11, 2025: Florida. Coverage of abnormal dryness or drought rose from 85.64% to 85.8%, and moderate drought or worse increased from 62.93% to 65.96%. However, severe drought or worse decreased from 37.61% to 26.77%. Extreme drought or worse fell from 20.54% to 5.77%. Exceptional drought disappeared after covering 5.61% of the state last week.
The Florida Panhandle and central Peninsula area received beneficial rains this week. This erased an area of exceptional drought and improved severe and extreme drought. (1/2)
