Colour photo, dark background, contrasty light. I allowed a globe thistle to bloom and dry out in a jar, and then half the dried flowers fell off the inflorescence. So this is almost like a cross section through the flowerhead. In the middle is the stem where you see the place the flowers attached, and radiating from it, the remaining flowers, spiky brown at the base extending to deep blue petals and little tufts of pale yellow pollen. Another intact flowerhead is below it.
