We’re back in the rocky Atlantic at #Marblehead, Mass with a mama #CommonEider and her little ones (I assume).
The #Eiders are actually “common” in these cold, turbulent waters. I marvel at how well adapted they are to this habitat.

A female common eider just off the coast of southern Maine. We saw dozens of these sea ducks just about everywhere we went along the coast in September.

A black sea duck in a blue sea with some brown rocks nearby. The main duck is all black except for white patches on the head, eye, and an otherwise orange bill. The female is more drab with fewer white patches.
