While we should recognise dangerous fossil forces trying and partially succeeding, rich countries' energy consumption has been flat/slowly falling.
It is capital costly, but critical that world's #energyPoor get access to RE, and don't go down old fossil path.

It *is* a silly dichotomy. The goal is decarbonisation, and handle nature more sensibly, but it will not and should not come at the cost of human development.
Rich countries decarbonise, if too slowly. Poor countries shan't remain #energyPoor. RE solves that.
