A layer of very clear ice covers rocks near the edge of a lake. The closeup of one of the rocks shows a cluster of small white bubbles of varying size inside the ice. The bubbles are all clustered together over one rock, they look like tiny little fluffy cotton balls encased in glass.

A layer of ice sits a few inches above a lower ice layer. The sun behind reveals the 1-2 inch space between the layers, highlighting the rounded pillars of super shiny glossy ice holding up the top layer. The low sun glints off everything.

A misty scene of a lake through a mess of twigs. There appears to be a graceful long necked dinosaur about to take a sip from the lake just beyond the shrubs. It’s really a tree branch covered in varying clumps of moss.

Two thick tree trunks frame a view of a small pond with an evergreen forest on the other side. A little ways out from the shore the water turns to ice, most of the lake is frozen, in the middle of the photo a rope dangles. Quiet and still. Until summer returns and it gets back to swinging and flinging joyfully squealing people into the refreshing lake.

Midway across the lake is a small mossy island, barely more than a few inches out of the water, but it is home to optimistic shrubs and a small tree, just waiting for spring so they can burst their leaf buds.

Through a frame of cedar branches hangs a larger tree branch covered generously and gracefully with old man’s beard hanging moss. It hangs in long tendrils reaching towards the lake below. It is delicate and beautiful like long flowing hair or pieces of delicate lace or flowy ethereal fabric.

A brown, juvenile bald eagle fills the center of the image, flying to the left. Its wings are spread wide, the tips of the feathers just starting to curve as the wings start a downstroke. Behind the eagle, out of focus in the distance, is a mostly evergreen forest with a few golden yellow deciduous trees mixed in.

You can see the top of the wing closest to the camera, and you can see each of the long primary feathers, and the smaller feathers above them. You can see all the primary feathers on the underside of the other wing, backlit by the sun. Behind the eagle, out of focus in the distance, is a mostly evergreen forest with a few golden yellow deciduous trees mixed in.

You can see all the different white sections on the underside of the wing and on the body. You can also see all the different kinds of feathers in each section of the wing. You can also see the sharp hook of its beak. Behind the eagle, out of focus, is a few golden yellow deciduous trees in front of an evergreen forest that’s further away. A mature bald eagle is sitting in one of the yellow trees, very small and out of focus, near the main eagles tail.

I also lucked out, thanks to my sometimes not very bright dog, in getting a few shots of a juvenile bald eagle flying fairly close to me. #inaccessibleviews #kitsumkalum #exploreBC #exploreTerrace
