A warm, human collage: several Polaroid-style snapshots are clustered and pinned to a corkboard, overlapping slightly like memories tacked up over time. Each photo shows a different person — men and women of various ages and appearances — posed casually, most smiling or looking directly at the camera with a calm, confident expression. Many are holding simple rectangular signs with short printed messages; the signs are predominantly white with teal or dark-colored text, and they say 'I support contract faculty," "stop the gigification of teaching," and "fairness for contract faculty." Clothing is everyday and approachable — sweaters, casual shirts, a bright green tee in one image — and a few people wear glasses. The overall color palette mixes the warm tan of the corkboard and the clean white frames of the photos with accents of teal, navy and a few floral and patterned backdrops inside individual shots.

Thanks to everyone speaking out today for #Fairness4cf during today's day of action.

Staff at OCUFA stand with contract faculty and everyone calling for an end to the gigification of teaching. Let’s keep the momentum going as we look ahead to the provincial budget on Mar 26.

While progress has been made for WLUFA’s CF Members, major issues remain. Sustained public funding for Ontario’s PSEs is needed to secure benefits, job security, pathways to full-time work, and research support for Contract Faculty. #Fairness4CF tinyurl.com/cfsmdoa @ocufa.bsky.social

Building meaningful relationships with students is at the heart of good teaching but growing class sizes and chronic underfunding make that harder every year.

Better university funding means better learning conditions.

Stop the Gigification of Teaching!

Canadian universities depend in contract faculty with precarious and poorly paid conditions. This hurts students and limits the contribution academia makes to society.

Contract faculty love teaching and supporting their students but too many do it without job security, fair pay, or benefits.

Stable employment would strengthen teaching, support students, and benefit our communities.

Did you know @westernu.ca over 20% of courses are taught by contract faculty?

When universities rely on short-term contracts instead of stable jobs, faculty and students both pay the price.

Recent progress at Laurier for CF matters. It also shows why collective action matters. But fairness for Contract Faculty depends on more than local gains. Chronic underfunding continues to drive precarious academic work across the sector. #Fairness4CF tinyurl.com/cfsmdoa @ocufa.bsky.social

Walk into many Ontario university classrooms today and you’ll see a system under strain: overcrowded classes, overstretched instructors, and growing instability.

More and more teaching is being done on short-term contracts.

This is the gigification of teaching. 🧵 #Fairness4CF

Today is OCUFA's Day of Action in support of #fairness4CF.

#ONPSE is increasingly being run on gig-style academic work, a result of years of provincial underfunding. The system is under strain, and students and faculty feel the impact.
