I feel like, in a way, Inky represents growing up. They represent having responsibility, being more reserved in demeanor, the stripping away of one's free time, and perhaps even growing older and slower. Considering Inky takes on the appearance of Fancy, a teenage boy, it could even be said that their destructive behavior in particular represents growing up too soon. Meanwhile, I think the ink itself represents that entire concept of being forced to grow up consuming you. Essentially, it is pressure. Remember: The ink didn't cause the rain that washed the world away, but the wet terrain it left helped the ink spread. Inky is what Fancy would become if that were to happen to him. Despite it all, Fancy resists the negative effects of the ink, but he does take on responsibility. He begins to use his words rather than just act, not only granting himself more agency by literally using his voice, but he uses it specifically to make sure others are okay and communicate during plans to stop the ink.
Fancy's entire world and existence represents the opposite of all of this: maintaining childhood memories, innocence, free will, expressiveness, and an overall carefree attitude. World 1 was the epitome of this as the earliest world where all that Fancy has to worry about is avoiding enemies. The ink tries to catch him, and in avoiding it, he learns a new skill that helps him navigate the world better. Should he fail, the ink immediately consumes him. World 2 gives him a goal to work towards after something is taken from him. The ink is only present harmlessly as either a tool he can use to reach new heights, or something to fight against as he tries to go back to a point where he once was. World 3 is a near perfect balance between freedom and responsibility. Fancy is responsible for getting his little sister back home, but it's such a low-stakes situation that he can take his time and help others along the way. Though inconvenient, he knows that ultimately she is safe. It could possibly be considered a grace period in Fancy's life, where he feels completely confident in his skills and knows that everything will be okay. There is no ink obstructing his path.
World 4 is where ink is the most present. It takes some time for it to settle in as Fancy makes his way towards the camp. The entire time, the music suggests an optimistic nostalgia, but the ink volcano looms in the background. You were told to keep an eye on it. After running through the land where his hometown had been washed away, after checking in on every survivor he encountered and hearing their thoughts, the ink volcano erupts. Suddenly, everyone in the entire world is counting on him. Inky feels like a version of Fancy that, at some point, was consumed by the ink. They have skills that Fancy does not, such as an even higher jump and using their own body mass as a projectile, sure, but at the same time they're lacking a lot of skills that Fancy maintained. Inky can't walk nearly as fast as Fancy can, they can't jump as frequently, and it honestly wouldn't surprise me if they couldn't wall jump. But who needs a wall jump when you can shapeshift? What's giving up your identity when it grants you that power in exchange? Shouldn't everyone be this way? Why would you ever wanna change back into something even remotely resembling your old self? What does he have that you don't?
When Fancy defeats Inky, they land on the ground in a rather silly and pathetic pose, showing that they lost to everything that he represents. They couldn't maintain their sincerity in defeat, contrasting Fancy's rather rigid position in death. They shift back into shapeless ink and rush to grab him and fling him to the ground in some kind of temper tantrum. They cannot fathom losing to the likes of him, especially with their own weapon. The pen is ink in moderation. Instead of it spreading everywhere out of control, it is harnessed in a way that allows Fancy to move forward without it hurting him much like in World 2. It can cut through the illogical fears and doubts that untamed ink presents. It has a Flow. It shows that in the fine balance between control over power, you will thrive creatively. Okay good night.
Last night I was typing out an idea that I had and honestly it became a fanfiction that presents itself like it's a theory. I'm proud of it so I'm posting it here lol

January 16th, 2025: I played the Fancy Pants Adventures series for the first time while exploring #newgrounds. It was the game I had always wanted to play and just didn't know it. It's been a special interest of mine ever since. Here's to more years running Fast and Fancy!
