The Fossil Fibers October 2025 fibers blending club. The inspiration picture was vintage painted teacups. At the top are locks of undyed Texel wool and a bit of silky looking white rose fiber. On the bottom are dyed locks of Shetland wool in pale blue, pink, and green. There’s also a bit of orangey gold eri silk.
The same fiber after combing and being lashed onto a hackle. The white Texel provides fluffiness, and the silk fiber and eri silk have just been layered on top.

A handspinning project in progress. On the left is a 2 ounce braid of Rambouillet naturally dyed a light lavender. On the right is a 3D printed espinner bobbin (for a Daedalus Starling) with about an ounce of darker purple singles. Below the bobbin is a ball of the remaining darker purple fiber (also naturally dyed on Rambouillet).

The fleece haul from WS&WF. One very white Corriedale from Rose the sheep, one BFL & Teeswater cross with an impressively long staple length and gorgeous color and a scruffy but incredibly fine California Variegated Mutant. I learned the CVMs are a conservation breed too!

This batt was made with 10%each of white English Leicester and white Border Leicester X Corriedale and 80%dark grey Corriedale. It still spun up wiry! But those Leicester breeds make a durable yarn. 3 plied and still soft enough to knit a next to skin garment. #handspinner #handspunyarn #fiberprep

I’m working on scouring a 7 lb Dorset fleece, little by little. My tap water is 110°F but evidently wasn’t hot enough. The first batch felt ok, although it still looked yellow, but hand carding made dirty gray-yellow rolags that felt greasy.
Spun .75 oz for Stage 13 but no pix. Instead, a "snapshot" of my 1st #TdF in 2009, when I spotted a California Fiber Bird nesting in my backyard. 🌞😆 #TourdeFleece #spinning #weaving #fiberprep #fiberarts #fibrearts #artistlife
