France demanded reparations, not for the damage they caused, but for the loss of their enslaved property. Haiti was forced to pay what would equal twenty one billion dollars today just for winning and America. They didn't help. They refer views to recognize Haiti for sixty years, terrified that news of a successful black rebellion would inspire enslaved people in the U. S. Southern politicians feared a contagion of freedom wherein slaved people might see Haiti not as a headline but as a blueprint. So they buried it, silenced it, and pretended it never happened. While Haiti struggled under debt, isolation and constant sabotage, the U. S. Did business with European powers, but not with the very people who broke their chains. In nineteen fifteen, America invaded Haiti under the excuse of stabilizing it. They rewrote Haiti, constitution, took control of its banks, and shipped five hundred thousand dollars in Haitian gold to Wall Street. They stayed for nineteen years, no apology, no repayment, no justice. And today, when people talk about Haiti's poverty, they leave out the theft, the punishment, and the deliberate sabotage When I realised Haiti didn't fail, it was targeted for succeeding.
