Whilst refamiliarising myself with the foibles of #framebuilding, I tackled some of the #rust.
Turns out #powdercoating is a silly treatment for #bike frames because water inevitably gets under it, and then it just hides the rust...
BUT it has created some rather fine #rustworms!

Two time-separated photos of the same area of a bicycle frame. The first shows some neatly-filed fillet brazing, but with a crack through the brass; the second shows a somewhat less tidy bit of brazing, but there is no more crack.
It's been a few years since I had a jolly fun flirtation with #bicycle #framebuilding so was sad last year when one of my frames developed a crack (probably because we didn't know what we were doing...) but then I found a friendly neighbour with a gas torch! #Oxypropane FTW! #brazing #STEELISREAL
