"Well, if it isn't Gale Dekarios!" Gale felt a hard smack on his back as he stared into his office in Blackstaff Tower. He looked behind him, shrugging off the shock from the sudden greeting and the slight pain from being hit. "Hanzi," he greeted, "it's been too long. I see you're doing well for yourself." The tall, large man grinned at him. His black eyes shone as he smiled at Gale. "Well, I had always said I wanted to teach here!" Hanzi was one of Gale's oldest associates. They had only been a year apart at Blackstaff, and once in university, they would see each other around the library, doing their respective research. They would speak on occasion, though they had done more while growing, rather than once they became proper wizards. Well, Gale had done less and less speaking to colleagues and associates once he became a great and powerful wizard. Those not on his level were beneath him; those not as intelligent weren't worth his time. Gods, he really was a fool.

"Are you nervous?" Gale looked away from his floor-length mirror and to Tara on the bed. "Tara, I've never been known to be nervous." Tara yawned, stood up, and then stretched. She shook, little strands of fur floating off of her and into the air. "We both know that's just not true, Mister Dekarios." He sighed and looked back at the mirror. "I'm not nervous," he answered, "Curious, mostly. They would be fortunate to have a wizard of my skill, teaching grand illusions to the up-and-comers." She laughed. "I suppose that's true." She flew up into the air and towards him. "I do admire your confidence. Blackstaff Academy will only improve with your expertise." Tara was correct, of course. Gale's skills as a wizard and his experience as an adventurer would be most beneficial for young apprentices who had the proverbial stars in their eyes. He knew his value as a wizard; he knew his knowledge and experience were highly sought after for teaching children and young adults—a dose of reality within the safety of Blackstaff Tower's walls. However, there was one little thing he was not nervous about, definitely not worried about, perhaps…curious about. His folly was very well known throughout the wizarding world. Hells, even that insignificant wizard they had fought in Baldur's Gate knew of his fall from grace. There was no doubt that the instructors and the Blackstaff herself knew of his mistakes. His loss of favoritism from Mystra. He hoped that wouldn't give them too much pause to deny him this opportunity.
I’ve updated my be Gale centric fic, Bloom. In this chapter we meet a couple characters, and mention someone in the past.

"That's…frightfully lonely." His heart ached for her. To be a victim of an affair, lose nearly all possessions, lose a home, on top of being unable to rid herself of the bastard…it is no wonder why all that she had was the book club, the shop, and the salon. "Not completely," she said softly. "I still had the friends I had made while working the shop, and Cyr." She smiled. "And the book club. They were always there for me when I was too lonely." She took his hand in hers. "And I have you, right?" Gale's heart warmed. "Yes. Woe betide anyone who would try to stop me from being at your side." She grinned, a sweet look in her eyes. "You certainly have a way with words." "I pride myself on my vernacular." She laughed and they kissed. "Now, Lia, I promised you dinner at a fine establishment. However, due to recent circumstances, I believe my tower would be a safer option." She grinned. "Oh, that would leave you to walk home alone after sundown," he muttered while taking his chin in his fingers.
