Actor, director establish ‘Trust’ going into TheatreWorks production Pair brings longstanding working relationship to Pulitzer-winning drama.

Harry's Hofbrau is full of meat & gravy. It's also where I had a great convo with 2 creatives premiering #PrimaryTrust at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley. I then went over to rehearsal to catch their chemistry in person. My feature for the @mercurynews.com. Show runs 3/4-29. #hellatheatre (gift article)

Smits, De Jesús bring more than star power to stage classic in Berkeley The actors, who are partners in real life, star in Arthur Miller’s classic drama “All My sons” at Berkeley Rep.

Joyous is one way to describe chatting with Jimmy Smits and Wanda De Jesús. They are both phenomenal in Berkeley Rep's #AllMySons. Review upcoming, but for now, here is a fun feature I did with both for the @mercurynews.com. Show runs through March 29. #hellatheatre (gift article)

ATG San Francisco (formerly BroadwaySF) announces big 2026-27 season “The Outsiders,” “Buena Vista Social Club,” “The Great Gatsby” among season offerings.

One of the biggest seasons in years. I've seen all these shows (except Outsiders and Gatsby), and have not been this hyped about ATG in years.
Interesting thing - back in the day, we used to get a month in the Bay, but now they are all 3 week runs. A bit of a bummer. #hellatheatre (gift article)

Review: ‘The Cherry Orchard’ Makes Family Delusion Captivating in Marin | KQED Carey Perloff’s direction and a gleaming cast elevate Anton Chekov’s final play at Marin Theatre.

The Cherry Orchard at Marin Theatre is excellent. Great translation, with a solid cast of the Bay Area's most acclaimed talent. So much to like about the show. Always great to be back writing theater reviews for @kqedarts.bsky.social. #hellatheatre www.kqed.org/arts/1398639...

‘Shakespeare’ gets a lot of credit — but performer should, too Jacob Ming-Trent takes theatergoers on an illuminating and entertaining journey.

Another show about how Shakespeare is hip-hop? Actually, no. We all discovered The Bard for the first time, but for Jacob Ming-Trent, it was life or death. The ending is a struggle, but the show really is terrific. My review of "How Shakespeare Saved My Life" for the @mercurynews.com. #hellatheatre

Review: Hershey Felder delivers a brilliant story … about Hershey Felder The performer best known for his engaging profiles of legendary composers, unspools an equally compelling story of his own life.

Hershey Felder's annual appearance on the Peninsula at TheatreWorks has an emotional bent, telling his very personal life story. It was so beautiful when he dedicated "Claire de Lune" to the memory of Alex Pretti in the post-show Q&A. My review for The @mercurynews.com. #hellatheatre (gift article)

Review: TheatreWorks strikes gold in Jane Austen’s world with ‘Pemberley’ Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon team up on a sharp romantic comedy in “Christmas at Pemberley”

I believed "Georgiana and Kitty," the 3rd in the Pemberley series trilogy, would be quite good. I didn't anticipate it to be as funny as it was, and better than expected. The show runs thru 12/28 at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley. My review for the @mercurynews.com #hellatheatre (gift article)

Review: Rock history delivered with attitude in ‘Million Dollar Quartet’ Play with music depicts a day when Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash met by chance at a Sun Records Studio.

The script is showing its age in places, but #MillionDollarQuartet is all about the live tunes and the fun nostalgia. Here's my review of the rockabilly and rock and roll hit at San Jose Stage for the @mercurynews.com. Through 12/14 (gift article) #hellatheatre www.mercurynews.com/2025/12/02/r...

For @kqedarts.bsky.social, @enkohl.bsky.social and I did our annual end of the year picks for theater events, shows and news. Review: ‘Driving Beat’ at TheatreWorks resonates on many levels TheatreWorks Silicon Valley’s moving, hip-hop fueled world premiere almost always rings true.

"A Driving Beat" at TheatreWorks does good things, but still needs more development, and must address a highly problematic scene that undercuts the story's arc. Nice to also see the company utilize a new space in their Mountain View home. My review for the @mercurynews.com, thru 11/23 #hellatheatre

It was great to revisit the terrific touring production of "Stereophonic" and how the Bay Area is a central figure in the story. Easter eggs galore for those who embrace this region. My review of the show for @kqedarts.bsky.social, runs through 11/23 at the Curran. #hellatheatre
