Alexander’s expression shifted, barely perceptible but present in the downward tilt of his brows and the deepening of the crow’s feet around his eyes. As Faysal continued to fiddle with the containers, pouring the solutions into smaller vessels, he moved around the counter to look at the teenager sitting quietly on the floor. Jessica didn't respond to his presence, presumably having fallen back asleep. “…is he worth it?”
Faysal looked up from his work to scan his father’s weary face, searching for the intent behind the question. Alexander had made it explicitly clear what he thought about their blooming relationship; he didn't trust that the turn the conversation was taking would be a positive one. “What do you mean?”
“The risk. Is he worth it?”
