The problem with all the "you need to have seen a Normal Holy Grail War to appreciate Strange Fake' takes is that there is no Normal Holy Grail War, they never play out the way they're supposed to. Even within the context of Strange Fake things are already not playing out how those who set this War up intended, it's already gone completely off the rails. We're not gonna see what this kind of Grail War was supposed to look like either. All these Mages trying to control their worlds. But someone always introduces a little Anarchy upsets the established order, and everything becomes Chaos. And I kind of think that's part of the point, that maybe the Fate Franchise is the ultimate Ian Malcolm Anime.
