I grew up in the hometown of #JohnBrown. It’s even got #UndergroundRailroad homes. I’d never say #emancipation came without White people signing on board, but that isn’t why the war came to be or ended.
Americans can't extinguish the Klan until they understand the economic and political systems that necessitate their existence in the first place.
Trust me, most of us hate "Southern" racists more than you can imagine. We simply don't have the political power to exorcise that anger.
