I moved to Leith two months ago, and this is what I've learnt about Edinburgh's 'coolest' area This is my favourite part of Edinburgh

"I also spotted a boy, around 10 years old, scootering up and down The Walk while barefoot, wearing his red tartan pyjamas. Some people in Leith are a bit extra." 😍🤣🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #Leith #Edinburgh #LeithWalk

Additional Bike Parking along Leith Walk On 10 October 2024, a report on incorrect parking on the tram line was considered by Committee. Committee requested that officers engage with relevant ward councillors and Community Councils along the route on how Sheffield bike stands could be deployed along Leith Walk on larger spaces between the bike lane and carriageway to assist both as a physical barrier and promote active travel. This has now been progressed to identify suitable locations. Out of 11 potential locations initially identified, seven have been deemed appropriate for the installation of bike stands following site visits and technical assessments. Andres Lices Wards Affected: 11 - City Centre 12 - Leith Walk
These locations have now been added to the rolling programme of citywide public bike parking installations and prioritised in line with the recently developed Citywide Public Bike Parking Strategy. None of the locations were prioritised for delivery during the next annual roll out, in part due to the presence of existing bike stands at nearby locations.

Speeding Parking Controls Roll-out - Motion by Councillor Booth On 18 November 2025, Committee agreed a motion by Councillor Booth titled ‘Speeding Parking Controls Roll-out’. It asked that, as part of the City Mobility Plan (CMP) update, officers should set out options for biodiversity and climate adaptation enhancements as part of the 'Delivering Actions for Parking - Supporting Information Paper’, including, but not limited to, accelerated rollout of street trees, rain gardens, benches and cycle parking, to replace some motor vehicle parking spaces throughout the city, and in particular along corridors identified as part of the future blue-green network in City Plan 2030. This also relates to Rolling Action Log item 11. On review, the CMP (Chapter 4 ‘Place’) already sets the Council’s strategic policy position on the need to embed Deborah Paton Wards Affected: All
biodiversity and climate adaptation into all proposals where possible, rather than for space solely created following removal of parking. In practice, all proposals seek to maximise their contribution to biodiversity enhancement and climate resilience. Where viable, interventions cited above are included within projects, and Officers continue to work proactively to include measures for biodiversity and climate adaptation within projects. There are no specific rolling programmes for replacing motor vehicle parking spaces with e.g. street trees, rain gardens, benches and cycle parking within the approved City Mobility Plan Capital Investment Programme, as approved by Committee in May 2025, so this would continue for now to be done where appropriate via projects.

A vintage black-and-white postcard of Trinity Road in Leith, Edinburgh, showing an early 20th-century street scene. In the foreground, the old Starbank Arms pub, with a classic stone facade, stands at the corner. A group of children and adults are gathered near an early tramcar, which is moving along the tracks. Tall wooden telegraph poles line the street, adding to the period feel. The background reveals rows of Victorian tenements and buildings, stretching into the distance, with an overcast sky. The image has signs of wear, giving it an authentic aged look.

Expect/ hope will also happen soon where bus shelters corners too close

🤔Of course, the design shouldn't have included such obstacles!

It’s true! We carry 20+ different loose coffee beans from 5 different roasters.

Bring a container or snag a free one, and buy as many beans as you like!

And we have a coffee grinder if you don’t have one at home, or you want to have the fun of using an industrial one 🥰☕️

There's a wider set of #LeithWalk improvement tweaks like the path planned after efforts from residents, comm councils, businesses & active travel groups, TTN designers engaging, & discussion both w/ officials & x-party (mix of consensus & debate!). Access forum also meeting this month.
