“Linhardt, I wanted to… oh, of course.” Leonie peeks into Linhardt’s room, only to find them seemingly snoozing away at their desk. Really, what else should she have expected?
“At least save that reaction for when I’m actually sleeping. You’ll probably only have to wait a couple minutes and then you can complain all you like.” Linhardt groans, voice muffled slightly by their arms.
“If you’re not already asleep, you’re gonna have to wait.”
“Oh. Then I’m already asleep.”
“Just… ugh, I wanted to say thanks. For telling me about the lake.” Leonie slips inside the room, shutting the door behind her.
“Sure. I’m happy you haven’t stopped appreciating it since the last time you told me.” Linhardt deadpans. They sit up in their chair, seemingly abandoning any short-term nap-related plans.
“I was just thinking about it again, that's all. The Professor insisted that I practice with the Inexhaustible today and it went well. I felt good.”
“Congratulations.”
“I’ll assume that was genuine.” She smirks. “Anyway, it just made me think. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my comrades… without you, Linhardt.” Leonie says, appreciation, and perhaps a bit of something else, coloring her voice.
Something in her tone sends a bit of a blush to Linhardt’s face. They don’t entirely understand why. “I… see. As much as I appreciate it, that trip to Lake Teutates was probably even more useful for me than it was for you. Even the barebones research I’ve been able to do with that bow as of yet has been unbearably interesting.”
“Even so. I couldn’t have found something like it myself, and now that I’ve used it, I really appreciate what you’ve done for me.” Leonie says, drawing closer to Linhardt.
“Even without the bow, you’re more than capable. Like I said then, you’re easily worthy of wielding it. That has little to do with me.”
This time, it’s Leonie’s turn to redden. She looks down at them, neither quite able to directly meet the other’s gaze. Neither of them seem to know quite what to say next.
But Leonie doesn’t need to say anything. She reaches a hand out to Linhardt’s face, fondly caressing their cheek with her thumb.
Another moment passes, and she leans down to take their lips in hers.
They share a short kiss. Not chaste, per se, but they’re both testing the waters.
Linhardt speaks first. “Letting me sleep would be a good enough show of appreciation. You don’t have to thank me like that…”
“This isn’t a thank you. You’re just cute.” Before either of them say anything more, Leonie leans back in.
Linhardt matches her.
Little thing for Linhardt's birthday!! Linhardt and Leonie kissing was on the menu for my brain today so... I wrote it!
