About dialog for GNOME Maps version 50.0

Rolled the releases for GNOME 50 today (a bit early, but I'll be busy all day tomorrow):

Maps 50.0
libshumate 1.6.0

and also a (small) bugfix 49.5 on the (old) stable branch.

Didn't yet do a write-up about the new stuff, guess that'll have to be done […]

Now that the new release of MOTIS with translation support has been deployed for Transitous, I implemented support for passing the language of user's locale(s) to the API.
This shows an itinerary rendered in Japanese and in the second example with romanized […]

Found this old poster I hadn't had up on the wall since moving from the apartment I used to live in until 2009.

Featuring a panoramic “aerial photo-like” view of central Uppsala from 1994 drawn by Madgalena Koronyńska in 1994.

I also tried reproduce the view […]

A poster of the Spilhaus projection: a map of the earth with the oceans at the centre.

As an early Christmas present, I treated myself to a poster of the Spilhaus projection. I always loved this view on the planet. The map is now living in our house 😃.

This is a fantastic version from www.le-cartographe.net

I love that two amazing map-makers won MacArthur Foundation genius grants this year: Tonika Lewis Johnson, and Margaret Wickens Pearce.

Pearce's work in particular I've been following for years, and according to Wikipedia she is the first awardee in history […]

A little line drawing of a woolly mammoth on the first of her published maps, whose remains were found just off Longwall Street. I think it's now at the natural history museum in Oxford.

It's labelled "mammoth found here" with a little arrow. "Here be mastodons!"!

Cool local culture blog and newsletter did a retrospective of Cecily Peele (1892-1984), an early 20th century woman author and mapmaker who co-ran a small printing/craft workshop right in the middle of the city, just down the back of the Ashmolean @oxford […]

Hey GIS mapping friends. I was a StoryMaps user for years for blogs, but the platform went away and I can't migrate to ArcGIS because I use a Chromebook (it's all I need).
