I had a #mathisfun #mathwalk session w/ a 3-year-old at @weaverstreetmarket.bsky.social re: measuring. We can weigh things by estimating or scale, try to interpret numbers (weights and costs) describing measures, consider temperature, and more. We saw what kiddo could buy w/ 25c. #mtbos #iteachmath

Yesterday I met one of my 3-year-old students for a #mathisfun #mathwalk @ncbg.bsky.social. We focused on measuring/comparing to a ‘standard’ like our body upright/lying down. We looked at many lines in a water container & thought of estimating them, even trying skip counting by 3 #mtbos #iteachmath

I worked with one of my 3-year-old students at NC Botanical Garden to continue looking at measurement. She used parts of her body to measure. We looked at relative terms - what’s small to her is big for an ant. We finished by reading and talking about time. #mtbos #iteachmath #mathwalk #mathisfun

It’s about 70degF on February 1 - beautiful day to be doing a #mathwalk with one of my 3-year-old students at NCBG ncbg.unc.edu! We considered measuring and read the book ‘How Long?’.
