Midori dressed as herself for Halloween - or rather, specifically as her former self, "MIDI-tan", from her decade plus as an idol before she'd quit and walked away.
It felt weird, looking in the mirror in her full outfit. She'd put something together based on an outfit from her final tour- it wasn't the original, of course. She'd left that behind when she'd walked out of the venue, as incognito as a green-haired girl could be. It was her, but, well, it wasn't. Not anymore.
She examined how, as always, those pesky bangs of her refused to say trapped beneath her wigs. It wasn't nearly as noticeable in her purple wig, but in this simulacra of her classic look it stood out like a sore thumb. Come to think, maybe that was why her hair had been cut to have that center part way back when.
As she got into the rideshare, her mind was hard at work composing potential deflections, just in case anyone realized this woman and a still-officially-on-hiatus idol were in fact one and the same.
Little did she know that her evening was about to be punctuated with "So what anime are you from?", "Meedee-who?", and, worst of all, some exasperating stranger who refused to take a hint as he nitpicked every which way that she absolutely did not look like his oshi, from her complexion to her body weight.
As for Midori's Halloween costume, at a loss for ideas, one finally came to her - "what if I went as myself?"
Or, rather, her former idol self, before she'd quit and changed her hair.
The results at the party were, well... unexpected.
