Question for the humanistic transportation engineers/researchers, the new #MUTCD requires an empty bicycle and prohibits the helmeted rider for #bikelane markings. This seems to fly in the face of humanistic communications principles, but does anyone know if there's research out there around this?

I do like the positive changes to the 11th Edition of the #MUTCD (published nearly a year ago).
I also like the new mandate that the MUTCD be updated every four years, so presumably we can organize to get what was left out changed sooner.
