A pair of red knit thigh high cuffed stockings laid flat after being washed. The stockings are contoured with decreases from the cuff to the knee, increases over the calf, and decreases to the ankle. The cuff is approximately 4 inches and is shown unfolded to allow for drying, but is folded over when worn.the cuff is patterned with two chevron bands on either side of a lace band. The stockings are also heavily textured with vertical bands of two-row garter alternating with two-row seed stitch bands. The stockings were knit with Cascade Heritage Silk (85% merino / 15% silk) on US 0 needles with a gauge of 10 sts / 14 rows per inch. The stockings are an intentionally larger than extant reproduction pair of the stockings Eleanora di Toledo was buried in. The extant stockings are knee-high in silk.
And they're off the needles! If they dry overnight, they'll be delivered in the morning. #EleanoraStockings #MySCA #ShowMeYourKnits 🧶

Nu när handduken är klar så har jag återgått till min birkaväska. Eftersom att jag broderat den och dessutom vill ha en liten innerficka så syr jag ett foder. Då skyddas broderiet från saker i väskan och jag kan ha en liten innerficka åt småsaker som nycklar utan att den syns utifrån.

An in-progress red knit wool-silk stocking with alternating pattern panels underneath the photographers left hand holding a small gauge swatch of the same pattern panels in much finer gauge silk. The in-progress pair is intentionally knit in larger gauge and yarn (and thigh-high instead of knee-high) so I could learn how the pattern works and contours as the shaping happens.
Not to be too much of a one-track poster, but #ShowMeYourKnits theme for the week is reds and pinks (autocucumber wanted to make that punks, which would also be fun!), so here's another photo of the #EleanoraStocking silk gauge swatch with the in-progress test knit pair in wool-silk. 🧶 #MySCA

A knit square in maroon silk yarn measuring about 1.5 inches square. There is a ruler to the height of the square and both are sitting on a white(-ish) terry cloth washcloth. The knitting is sideways in the photo with the rows running vertically. The center section is textured with combinations of both knit and purl stitches matching the panels in the stockings Eleanora di Toledo was buried in.
As I near the heel flap on the second test #EleanoraStocking, the recipient has acquired some luscious 2/20 silk for the proper recreation pair. I did a gauge swatch with it on US 5-0 / 1 mm needles and - as best my aging eyes can count - am at 19 sts and 20 rows / inch. 🧶 #MySCA
