I kinda hate it when I run across a whole discussion subculture that was out there for over a decade and I knew nothing about it.
Like #NoEstimates. I've long felt software estimation is a dead end, and only done to satiate the demands of naive project managers. They never worked, and won't work.
Estimates suck because they're just guesses dressed up as math. Devs hate 'em, PMs cling to 'em, and clients treat 'em as contracts. Reality? Sh*t happens -> scope creeps, tech debt bites, and priorities shift. Stop pretending estimates == promises. #DevTruths #NoEstimates

But growing a relationship with deep trust is step one.
#NoEstimates doesn’t mean no deadlines—it means using real data instead of guesses. Track cycle times, reduce variability (but not entirely), and you’ll forecast deadlines with confidence. Aim for consistency, and your team will thrive while hitting targets.
My still relatively new CTO is reversing years of relatively agile ways of working by offshoring the engineering and asking use stop using story point estimates in favour of 'ideal days'.

I've been around the software industry enough time to know that software is not factory work.
Companies would like it or not but inconvenience happens, bugs happen and a lot more things escape our control, investing time in something so error-prone is not useful for anybody.
