I'm of two minds about first shoots and regular shoots. I've had some pretty amazing experiences working with someone for the first time and then there is the familiarity and wonder that comes with becoming more and more comfortable with someone. Hailey was an eternal surprise - always somehow sideways and unique. Over the course of six or seven years we somehow never fell into a rut. Any time that I think about my so-called photographic career I have to give serious props to Hailey. I met her early-on in the process -- an immediate muse and an immediate influence. The second or third time we worked together I gathered enough courage to ask about her "regular" gigs and how they were different. She rolled her eyes and mimed a telephone to her ear, adopting an "older photographer voice" to say "Haaaaaailey, I have an amazing concept! You can wear lingerie and roll around on a hotel bed and fake an orgasm!" and right there and then I resolved never to propose a concept that would make Hailey roll her eyes at me. I think we made a good team. Hailey was willing to entertain my stupidest starting points and then would take control and steer me in whatever direction she was feeling. I'm super stoked for her newest career choices but miss the hell out of her as a creative partner. There have been a number of others but none quite so resonative (is that a word? as she was.
There's more in the alt-text but this is a shot at home with Hailey. #oregon #oregonmodel #oregonphotographer #pdxphotographer #stayhome #chillout #creative #moments
