My #orgdown static website generator #lazyblorg learned lots of new tricks lately:

- ultracool #TagTree navigation 🏷️
- Atom feeds for single tags and combination of 2 #tags! 🔖
- share on Mastodon :mastolove:
- "random articles published on the same day" 🎲
- published on pypi 🐍

Has anybody ever written a conversion tool from the #orgmode syntax by #logseq to a cleaner version of #orgmode syntax for Emacs?

Background: logseq has a unique interpretation of the #orgdown syntax as each element is also a heading on its own (in order to allow element references) […]

@oantolin Well, I haven't used any #staticwebpage generator except my own: #lazyblorg.

The reason why I programmed my own generator was that I could not get the features I wanted to have anywhere else:

- blog posts anywhere I like them: among my tasks/projects/contacts/...
- absolute minimal […]

Here's a screenshot of a business project of mine using that tool.

RE: https://graz.social/@publicvoit/116075103794827102

#Emacs: After successfully testing it a few times, I just released an extension of the code which visualizes the current #orgdown sub-hierarchy only.

I've added both (visualize sub-hierarchy + whole file) to my #orgmode hydra.

I think the […]

I just published my newest project that visualizes #orgdown (#Emacs #orgmode syntax) files in a web browser:

Similar functionality is included in all sorts of tools like #logseq or #obsidian. I personally haven't found a spot for it in my daily […]

Besides not using a better #LML syntax such as #Orgdown, I really do like the way how @silverbulletmd is transparent about its #Markdown downsides.

That's why I extended my article on the downsides of Markdown with it as an example: https://karl-voit.at/2025/08/17/Markdown-disaster/ […]

#SilverBullet is a self-hosted, free/open #PIM tool. You could see it as an replacement for other tools like #Obsidian or #Logseq.

I haven't tested it myself yet. One of the downsides from my perspective is the use of #Markdown as its syntax: https://karl-voit.at/2025/08/17/Markdown-disaster/ […]

Any recommendations for an Android app to read (only) and search through ten mid-size to large #orgdown files I currently sync via Syncthing?

#Orgzly revived does kill captured data (in my setup situation) and #Orgro can't even open my larger files.

Karl Voit: Why Markdown Is A Disaster If you were paying attention to my response to Watts Martin’s post on Markdown, you probably concluded that Karl Voit is not a fan of Markdown. I’ve been following Voit’s views on light weight markup languages and personal information management for a long time and have a lot of respect for his views. I was, therefore, delighted to see his long and detailed post on why he thinks Markdown is a disaster. He says, contra Martin, that the plethora of Markdown dialects really is a significant problem and, more importantly, represents a trap for the user. His post spends a long time on that issue so you should see his post for the details. One of the claims in my response to Martin and elsewhere is that Org mode markup syntax—what Voit calls Orgdown—and Markdown are essentially the same and differ in only trivial ways. Voit rejects this completely. His post spends a long time discussing that and why he thinks that Markdown syntax is _much_ worse than Org mode’s. Read his arguments and see what you think. I agree that the many different markups for accomplishing the same output _is_ a problem and, for the most part, I agree with him that some aspects of Markdown design are suboptimal but I don’t think fatally so. For example, rather than having `*` and `_` do the same thing it would be better to have one for bold and one for italics similar to what Org mode does. Still, all-in-all, I stand by my belief that the syntax of the two markups differ only trivially. To be sure, I agree that Org mode syntax is superior and that the Org mode environment is far and away better than Markdown’s. The only remaining question is what to do if you aren’t an Emacs user or if you have collaboration issues. Voit says there are plenty of tools for dealing with Org mode documents that don’t involve Emacs but even though I’d love this to be true, I still think that as a practical matter if you’re going to write Org documents you really need to be using Emacs. Even Voit agrees that Emacs provides the best environment but we differ on whether non-Emacs Org mode is practical. My view: possible, yes but not practical. Guys like Voit can and do make it work for them but I doubt it will see widespread adoption.

- #orgdown support is lost
- EDN export is introduced besides MD export

Should I dare to do a "why #Markdown is one of the worst lightweight markup syntax languages there is"-session at a UX/UI-dominant #barcamp? 😜

Of course, if you do have long-time plans for your personal #knowledgemanagement, you should not use proprietary tools like #Obsidian, #OneNote, #Evernote and alike.
