Image from the excellent 1997 science fiction movie Gattaca shows a detective looking at a video screen showing a certain “in-valid” named Vincent Freeman whom he's trying to track down in the face of DNA hijinks.

Aided by forensics corp. #Othram, #FBI in 2022 pulled DNA data from 2 consumer databases law enforcement isn't supposed to tap: GEDmatch & MyHeritage.

Cops once needed to find a direct match btwn crime scene DNA and a specific suspect's. Now it's wide open, pattern analysis off consumer data

Othram Announces Project 525 to Identify Missing and Murdered Children Othram will be working through five hundred twenty-five juvenile cases published in NamUs, as part of a special initiative funded through philanthropy and crowdfunding.

Othram is announcing the launch of a new project focusing on the identification of 525 unidentified children. The project name and initial scope commemorates National Missing Children's Day, held each year on May 25.
