Here's one of my faves & one I saw *a lot* of growing up in rural Australia. Tiliqua rugosa has many common names, but where I'm from we call them "sleepy lizard" or "stumpy tail".

CT image of baby bird in top left, crop contents pulled out into the middle, isolated bones on the sides: hip bone articulated with femur, putative shoulder girdle, a string of articulated tail vertebrae with chevrons, and a sternum with a crumpled ribcage. Specimen FMNH 368617.

One of my favorite CT scans I helped make for #oVertTCN: a 5-day-old loggerhead shrike ate a tiny lizard! 🪶🧪🦎

How can we tell it's a lizard? Tail vertebrae in reptiles have chevrons for muscle attachment. Mammal tail bones don't have those.
