Caladenia falcata - the Fringed Mantis Orchid

To me, this orchid exudes drama with those upswept sepals and a broad labellum that is tipped slightly back. Endemic to Western Australia and flowering from late August.

The garden certainly appreciated the summer storm that passed over the Perth Hills this morning.

The rain certainly made things a bit brighter and fresher, including this lovely Hibbertia sp. flower which was glistening with raindrops

Epiblema grandiflorum - Babe-in-a-cradle

One of Western Australia's endemic orchids which flowers between November and January, some of our warmer months. It grows in swampy areas, which have usually dried by the time the orchid flowers.
