Pedernal, the mountain made famous by Georgia O’Keefe in some of her paintings, rises in the background of a remote section of Ghost Ranch, a Presbyterian conference center in northern New Mexico. Abiquiu Lake can be seen between the sandstone boulders and Pedernal.

Today I drove to the #Abiuqiu #NewMexico area to relax. We have had 3 days of rain, heavy in places. I forgot that there may be MUD on the side of the road when I pulled off to take a photo of the #Pedernal. I also forgot I had 4 wheel drive. A Marine in a truck with a chain pulled me out.

The #Pedernal is a mountain near the #GhostRanch in #NM. Pedernal translates into Flint Mountain. Many artists have painted it before me. Even if I paint the same subject, each image is a new view, new experiment, new experience.
