Prophages are more frequent in nature than lytic #bacteriophages. They not destroy bacteria and could protect them from phagocytosis (See ➡️ it is required to check prophages during the production of #phages used for #phagotherapy!

Maybe one day we can say that to patients with complex #infections. Indeed, #phagotherapy has a high potential, but it absolutely requires for safety tricky and costly good manufacturing practice production (GMP) of #bacteriophages
Conclusion of the @ansm CSST: All the issues raised by #phagotherapy led to promote the establishment of a national platform for guidance and validation of the use of #phages to control their use in France and could eventually work on the implementation of an academic production
