A set of four artworks, arranged in a 2x2 grid. The works are made up of 'aboriginalia' souvenir fabrics but have been embroidered with text and images referencing the colonial settlement of Australia by Europeans. They form a sharp critique of the forcible dispossession of Australia's first peoples.

Also seeing some cool work by indigenous artists, reclaiming "aboriginalia" souvenir materials. These Kait James' works at #RadicalTextiles are pretty cool, but saw some similarly inspired pieces at the Melbourne Art Expo a couple of weeks ago.

A tapestry of panels showing the AusLan signing alphabet.

Panels from the South Australian AIDS memorial quilt, celebrating the lives of people who died from HIV before adequate treatments were developed.

A set of different heads crafted from soft materials, all hung from the gallery ceiling. The faces of each head are stitched with patterns representing the story of that person/character.

A red and gold trade union banner for the Builder's Labourers Union of South Australia. The banner celebrates tje introduction of the eight hour working day.

More art immersion today with the #RadicalTextiles exhibition at AGSA. Am interesting range of textile based works from tapestry, to quilting and a bit of couture. Unsurprisingly a lot of the work is by women artists; but covers decorative works, trade union banners and AIDS memoria, etc.

I was recently in #Adelaide to present on #TokenWars at @everythingopen.au. Took a side quest to the #RadicalTextiles exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Australia #AGSA - and it was confronting, surprising, and - echoing a key theme of #EverythingOpen - decidedly #HopePunk.
