Another productive day sampling water on the #riverchess for Phosphate levels. 10 sites collected today, 15 sites yesterday. We are aiming in total over the 2 days to process 75+ samples. Results will follow.
Beautiful morning to be sampling water for Phosphate with our NOSES #CitizenScientists #riverchess #frog
A great partnership day on the #riverchess fantastically guided by @Hillfortian to see some of the heritage feature first hand. The Lidar imagery produced by 'Beacons of the Past' has uncovered a treasure trove of human history. Go check it out!...
Yesterday was our final day of water sampling for our emerging contaminents #CitizenScience survey method, so we gave a tour of the #RiverChess to Imperial College London team Stav and Kemi who have been processing our samples for us for the last 12 months.

As part of our aims to improve water quality in the #RiverChess, we have sensors in the river at Rickmansworth, which have actually detected daily patterns of nocturnal activity from #SignalCrayfish through heightened turbidity levels (see tweet 1/4 for graph 📈).

Beautiful day on the #RiverChess with @BBOWT and @RiverChess training 10 new Water Vole surveyors. The R.Chess has one of the last endemic populations of Water Voles across the Chilterns Chalk Streams. Sightings are rare, but signs were evident. Many thanks to our new volunteers.
Happy Friday! Amazing what longer & warmer days can do.
April showers are continuing to provid good flows along the Chess and are vital for groundwater recharge.

Plenty of rain over recent days has resulted in the fastest water flow rates recorded by our team in nearly 2 years of monthly monitoring on the #RiverChess
Heavy #rainfall caused a drop in specific conductance and varying dissolved oxygen as seen in our Chesham sensors too.
We've continued to collect water samples from the #RiverChess with help from #CitizenScientists today, joined by Piers @ChilternSociety to share info on river health & sustainability.
Don't let these photos fool you... it poured down on us today at #ChorleywoodHouseEstate ☔
