4月4日，大量 #美國 大學國際學生突然收到校方通知，稱其 #SEVIS 記錄已被取消。SEVIS是美國國土安全部用來追蹤和管理持 F、M和J簽證的國際學生和訪問學者的數據庫系統。
加州大學伯克利分校、斯坦福大學、哈佛大學、加州大學洛杉磯分校、加州大學聖迭戈分校等已發布聲明，確認出現類似情況。但據受影響學生自主收集，約有全美50所大學國際學生都收到了SEVIS取消通知。
SEVIS記錄被終止，相當於學生的在美數據記錄被刪除，也意味着留學生的合法身份將立即失效，必須在規定時間內（通常為15天內）離境或儘快採取措施恢復身份，否則將面臨被遣返、未來簽證受限等嚴重後果。
