Two animated skeletons in a dungeon - The skeletons, walls, floors, ceilings and pillars would later be used in Islands of the Caliph, with color added.
A giant spider in a forest - the same trees and spiders would later be brought into Islands of the Caliph, but colors were added in the process.
The necromancer also makes an appearance in Islands of the Caliph. Though the games are very different in terms of gameplay and scope, a lot of the seeds for Islands were planted with this project.
Though it did not win the game jam, it did merit an entry in the magazine. I was very proud of this project and how it explored the limits of what the Raycasting Game Maker could do.
Before Islands of the Caliph, there was Catacombs of the Necromancer! It was my submission to E1M1 #GameJam. A lot of the art from Islands began here, and it even got a blurb in volume #9 of the magazine, right next to #SquirrelStapler :)
