Just a reminder that in our tradition this coming Sunday (March 15) is nicknamed Refreshment Sunday and Mothering Sunday.
My head is spinning from reading a thread on Episcopalian reddit (I know, I know) about the what the “gospel message” is. Mostly it reads as list of favorite Sunday morning quotes/themes. But there’s also a critique that #tec fails to preach the “correct” answer. Do we have one correct answer?

If any old Episcopalian like me needs to sit with a dying friend, I recommend this, which I've done many times with both parishioners and other friends: Sit with them in silence and read the Psalms from the Rite I Burial. (p. 471). It takes about half an hour. They'll know God's presence.

Does it always move to the beginning of the service? Our Rite I had it at the beginning today but the Rite II did not. It’s my job to keep an eye out.

I am always offended by the term "transitional deacon". I was ordained a deacon in 1975. I was ordained a priest the next year (50 years ago).
I never abandoned my diaconate, nor my foundational ministry as a member of the laity, with all our duties as the baptized people of God.
