Jayce whimpered desperately, too aroused to be embarrassed at this point. Before he could stop himself, a name slipped past his lips. "Viktor!" A sudden, muffled noise startled Jayce out of his fantasy. His eyes snapped open as he whipped his head up to stare at the closed bedroom door. Hastily turning off the vibrator, Jayce strained to listen for any signs of life outside his bedroom. His free hand had already moved towards the keys, ready to grab them and free himself. But, he couldn't make out any other sounds. Jayce felt himself relax. Deciding that either his mind had played him a trick or that the neighbor's cat had knocked the plant on his window down again, his bedroom door slammed open. Jayce felt his soul leave his body as he let out a terrified scream, flinching violently when the door hit the wall with a loud bang. Blocking the door frame was a tall figure, its orange, glowing eyes fixed on Jayce, unblinking and predatory. Jayce's heart stopped beating for a second when he finally understood the severity of his situation. "Viktor?!" He cried out again, panicked. Viktor, no, the Machine Herald was standing there, staring at him. Not only was Jayce embarrassingly naked and had a toy in his ass, he was also tied up and unable to defend himself.

It's late September and the leaves are browning, the sun is warm and the air is cool. Jayce doesn't hate people as much as he did when he was sixteen, and he feels bad for the teacher they sent to talk to him though he still doesn't regret not reading the pamphlet. A shifting colonnade of trees accompany him as he walks side-by-side with Viktor and they talk about everything like they used to. Again, the crackling of a voice through the static and again, the knife in his stomach, except now he's aware of how much he's bleeding out. The urge to kiss Viktor burns so badly he has to look up at the sky, which is as blue as ever, and that is such an inane observation to make he knows something must be terribly wrong with him. Jayce tries to make some poignant remark on the poetics of the sun returning to rise each morning no matter the disasters that happened on earth. Viktor replies by saying that in just a few billion years the sun will explode and take the whole remainder of humanity left with it, if a stray asteroid or capitalism-empowered climate change hasn't wiped everyone out by then. The urge to kiss Viktor metastasises. Jayce has never smoked a cigarette in his life but he wants one to appear between his lips right now, if only so they'll have something to hold on to.

His mouth has formed the sort of scowl that could never make it to billboards, the deep-set 'C' frown of horror that would form wrinkles if he wasn't trained into a constant smile between the cringing. She counters quickly, skipping into the lab to plant her feet on the bottom wrung of his seat and whirl them both into a spin, "I just did and no one stopped me, so... guess I can!" Jayce plants a boot on the ground, the arm closest to Amaranthine moving to catch her in her own inertia lest she fall. She's misty with raindrops. Jayce pulls one of her bows straight in her hair before pulling them back to his workbench to continue signing the latest batch of patents. For a moment she is still. Then Amaranthine snatches his pen to sign one perfect forgery of his signature before he slides the paperwork from her reach. Jayce gives in. "Why are you even asking me about that? Jayce takes him by the shoulder then slowly, slowly spins Viktor until they're facing each other. He knows he gave himself the extra height in his legs with the express purpose of lording it over Jayce but he still isn't quite used to it, having to tilt his head down instead of up. Jayce's grip is firm on Viktor's forearms. They're unimaginably close, almost chest to chest, and Viktor can't help but think that every single time he's seen Jayce since Naph and Amaranthine started becoming involved with each other Jayce has seen his face, has either walked into the lab when Viktor was unawares or forced it off of him. He's become insatiable, accidentally slipped an inch and now prepared to do whatever it takes to get that mile. Jayce searches every single inch of his face - though for what Viktor isn't sure. The worst option, and the one he's nearly absolutely sure that it is, is that Jayce is committing him to memory; just in case Viktor ever slips away again; just in case next time he can't get at the clasps of the mask; just in case next time there isn't a mask at all. Viktor understands, in a very roundabout way. He's slippery.

At once, it's like all the built up adrenaline comes crashing down. Leaving only weariness, and a void so deep it almost brings him to tears. Jayce has had enough. Enough of Albus Ferros' increasingly outrageous and morally dubious demands. Enough of his golden image, too polished, in Piltover. Enough of being someone everyone respects, but no one wants to get close to. More than anything, he's had enough of that meaningless conflict, he only has himself to blame for. That conflict forcing him to raise a weapon against the only person he ever felt real connection with. Every time they meet like this, a part of him wants to throw himself at Viktor's feet and beg for forgiveness. To ask him to be part of his life again, and not as an enemy.
