Has anyone got a link to share for a good article that counters the notion that pedestrian safety is a “shared responsibility”? I’m tired of trying to explain to people that the mode that has the potential to cause the greatest harm bears the burden of responsibility. #VisionZero

Perales Location: 5600 University Avenue Neighborhood: El Cerrito Type: Serious Injury Collision Synopsis: A 74-year-old female was driving westbound on 5600 University Avenue and ran a stop sign to cross over eastbound University Avenue and proceed west on Chollas Parkway. A 48-year-old female was driving eastbound on University Avenue in the number two lane. As the 74-year-old female failed to stop for the stop sign she collided with the front of the 48-year-old female’s vehicle head on. The 74-year-old female sustained non-life-threatening injuries including an open ankle fracture, pelvic fracture, and a collapsed lung. Alcohol was not a factor in this collision. San Diego Police Department Traffic Division will be handling the investigation. Anyone with information related to the above incident(s) is encouraged to call the listed Command handling the investigation or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

A 74-year-old woman ran a stop sign at the (very confusing) intersection of University Avenue and Chollas Parkway and struck an oncoming driver head-on. She suffered an open ankle fracture, fractured pelvis and collapsed lung. She's expected to survive. #VisionZero
Reminder: That isn't even an eBike. "The stunning video of the incident, captured on the gas station’s security camera this summer, is one of many traffic incidents involving e-bikes in New Jersey that have led to calls for improved regulations as the bikes become more ubiquitous around the state." O'Brien Location: 9500 Balboa Ave. Neighborhood: Kearny Mesa Type: Fatal Collision Synopsis: A 67-year old male was riding his 2016 Triumph motorcycle westbound on 9500 Balboa Avenue approaching the intersection with Viewridge Ave. A 42-year old male was driving his 2025 Chevrolet truck eastbound on Balboa Avenue and was proceeding through the intersection making a left turn onto Northbound Viewridge Ave. The Chevrolet entered the intersection on the green traffic control signal. The motorcycle entered the intersection against a red traffic control signal, and collided with the front of the Chevrolet. The motorcyclist was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. S.D.P.D. Traffic Division responded and is handling the investigation. DUI is not considered to be a factor in this collision. Anyone with information related to the above incident(s) is encouraged to call the listed Command handling the investigation or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

Meanwhile @news.rte.ie tells me that « A three-year-old boy has died after being struck by a car in an underground car park ». Passive voice (no-one’s doing anything, death is just happening) and there’s no human involved, just a vehicle.
