to be clear, a chief challenge with building nuclear is that the construction must adhere to stringent safety requirements. As we saw with #Vogtle, the reactors must be built to the design on paper ... and if they can't, then the design has to be changed, approved, etc.

But the #nuclear industry, combined with nuclear advocates AND energy experts all say now that the U.S. has built two #AP1000 reactors and worked (slogged) through allllll of the issues, hiccups, hangups, "teachable moments" ... the next batch of reactors should be built faster than #Vogtle

Price tag on #nuclear ambitions in #Sweden:
400 billion SEK (38bn.USD) to build 4 or 5 new reactors totalling 4-6 GW.
Seems optimistic, as #Vogtle and #HinkleyPointC only got 2 reactors for that price. But at least those projects weren't cancelled, like #VCSummer and #Fennovoima.
