Many states have rules that being "discharged" or "discharged for cause," is an automatic denial for unemployment. This is where it is critical that a fired employee have their latest performance documents in hand. Check the state's appeal process and follow the directions to the letter. Be aware of some states force people to jump through needless hoops. At the same time, immediately CALL your US Senator and/or Member of Congress for assistance.
