A simple flat color doodle of an armorless version of X and Zero as done on Procreate. The two of them are in their Maverick Hunter uniforms, consisting of color-coordinated leather jackets and slacks. X, in particular, has a jacket underneath his uniform. Both X and Zero are holding onto each others' hands, but are looking off to the side.
A quick design exercise where I wanted to explore what X and Zero would've worn outside of their armor while working at the Hunter Base! It's supposed to evoke their days during the OVA + MMX1 era hehe
And why yes — XZero is indeed the best ship uwu

![Yea ZeroX is great and all, but I'm genuinely so bored of the fluff admittedly. [ crossed out ] I actually used to not like the ship because of that. Blasphemous, I'm aware. [ cross out end ]
I wanna draw and write them as angsty, messy queers full of unspoken, closeted feelings bc they're too preoccupied with war and the fear of losing one another again. I want them to go from instances of quiet passion, before the guilt comes creeping in for X, and the walls rise higher for Zero. They need one another. They hate each other. They're young, they're dumb, they're reckless in a world that struggles against their efforts in trying to understand their place in the world.
X speaks the words of a savior. Zero promises downfall. Theyre fighting against a destiny set over 100 years prior. They get peace in Zero, but still, they're too scared to speak. They enjoy the quiet in melancholy.
