Our Senior Art awardees blew us away at this year’s #YIF Festival! The 4th place award went to Isabella Laing (LCVI) for “Snapshot of the Future”. Sonya Melim (Superintendent of Education, ALCDSB) presented the 5th place award to Lana Wilson (Holy Cross) for “SPH[Y]RnA”. Congratulations! 📷🦈
This week, we start highlighting #YIF awardees in the Senior Art category! Join us in congratulating our first-place winner, Ellora Outwater (Sydenham High School). Jon Dessau from the Kingston Community Credit Union presented Ellora with an award for “A Harmonious Existence”. Bravo! ✨🍓
Last but not least for this category, #YIF celebrates Honorable Mentions in Junior Art! Gavin Hutchison from 350 Kingston presented an award to Remi Chiddle, Megan DaCosta, Kennedy Hoobin (in absentia), and Norah Batt (L’Acadie) for “Tissue Box of the Future”.
Dan Hendry (LDSB) presented awards to Finalists Willow Milford and Molli Mocon (L’Acadie) for “The Greener the Cleaner”, and to Savhanna Hill (Granite Ridge) for “Rebirth of the Field”. We are in awe of our Finalists’ beautiful submissions! 🤩 #YIF

The #YIF Team has been hard at work this fall, giving presentations about climate change solutions to #KFLA area classrooms and conferences, co-hosting readings, showcasing our wonderful artists’ work at various local institutions, and preparing for this year’s Festival!
