a b/w illustration finished by butcherbirds.bsky.social of khara and yon, two qestiri xaela siblings. a hint of subtle red (the only contrast!) can be glimpsed on yon’s neck. in the background are the cold mountains of coerthas. the details at the bottom of the piece are its gates, pointing upwards with faint white lilies. khara (upper figure, male xaela) is right side up, mournfully looking away to the side as his right arm is clutching the hilt of a glowing deathbringer. yon (lower figure, fem-presenting xaela) in contrast, is upside down, eyes gazing directly at khara as their clawed hand harshly grips the blade of deathbringer. it appears as if they are falling towards the gate’s pointed edges.
