Last year I saw some some native snowdrops growing in an unkempt portion of my neighborhood. I went and transferred some of them to my yard. It's satisfying to see them thrive in their new location. #zone6 #mygarden #bloomscrolling #gardening #snowdrop
It's happening! A few years ago I planted allium, crocus, and daffodils so Spring would start asap in my yard. It worked! #Spring #zone6 #gardening
I caught this bee visiting my bird feeder 🐝
Turns out they collect corn dust when pollen is scarce and bring it back to the hive.

I’m ready to vote for JSN and implement the #Zone6 agenda.
The garlic is confused. Is it April already?! 🌱 #zone6
Well I thought we were having a “normal” winter for a change, but I guess I was wrong. It currently feels like May and it’s storming. Lightning and thunder, oh my! #zone6 #chicago #weather
The feverfew plant is unfazed by these frigid temps and snow. 🌱 #zone6
We've been so spoiled at the Wide Receiver. Really hoping this doesn't mark the end of an era #WRU #Zone6
Cut up dragon carrots in vacuum bags.
Before it got cold in mid Nov we harvested and processed a bunch of carrots. Mostly Purple Dragon but there are some purple helix mixed in there. Let them grow way too long so some were bitter but they cook up fine.

Calendula flowers growing in November
So apparently calendula are rather cold tolerant? We have been warmer than usual winters here but still had some snow and freezing temps. Yet these calendula are still growing and flowering. 🌱 #zone6 #flowers

Fresh garden tomato picked in November.
Yes it’s 3 weeks to December and I’m still picking tomatoes. Crazy times. 🌱 #zone6 #gardeningfeed
Carrot with interesting growth pattern.
I tend to leave one or two carrots in the ground to seed out the next season. I moved a raised bed recently and this carrot trunk abomination was right in the way. 😳

It’s a week to November and we are finally getting some cold nights. But here in the Chicago area I’m still seeing monarch butterflies. In my non butterfly professional opinion, that seems very late for them to still be around here. 🌱 #zone6 #gardeningfeed
Green tomatillo fruit
Using up a bunch of late harvests and fermenting into hot sauce. Tomatillos, garlic, onion, jalapeno, poblano, and chilaca chilis. Then will add cilantro and maybe a bell pepper at the end when I blend.

I’m definitely growing these chilaca/pasilla peppers again next year. I have never seen a pepper plant put out so many peppers before. They take forever to mature though. They’re plenty hot in the green stage but when they turn brown is the best flavor. 🌱 #zone6. #gardeningfeed #peppers
Music hardneck garlic cloves fall planting.
Today we tuck the music garlic in for its long winter nap. 😴

Ground up dried mature shishito peppers
Ground up the dried shishitos into paprika and it is such a pretty red. I might have to make some paprikash with it. 🌱 #zone6 🍽️
