Something like 98% (I wish I was exaggerating) of my LinkedIn feed is AI-related.
Which circle of Hell is this? Someone save me.
A screenshot showing the word "kind-hearted"
I like to think so, yes. 😇
Will this be recorded/available as a VOD? The time difference unfortunately makes it difficult for me to catch this.
Would love to though!
It's just like the Everything Bagel from Everything, Everywhere, All at Once, and I am here for it.
Does anybody know if the HonYaks community is still active? I applied nearly two months ago and haven't heard anything, positive or otherwise.
That's an amazing add to LocQuest's portfolio, huge congrats!
Octopath Traveler 0? The French loc of the first was brilliant, this is a crying shame.
IX being so low on your list is criminal! I cannot agree with you good sir!
Just backed Fallen Fates by @hibernianws.bsky.social on Kickstarter! Looking really promising. Support your indies!

Beyond the other silly stuff, calling Hollow Knight's dialogue "straightforward" is comical. There's a lyrical and esoteric quality to much of the source content, and it would definitely pose an interesting challenge to render as a professional translator.
Someone's (rightfully) angry!
Baffles me too, but there's already AI-generated Twitch streamers who have thousands of viewers.
Or at least one I know of: Neuro-sama. Why anyone would want to watch what is basically ChatGPT steaming, I don't know, but it's a thing.
These trends make me appreciate human art all the more, tbh.
Your writings are invaluable to the translation community and beyond, and I definitely feel you're correct about the general atmosphere of large swaths of the Internet today; there's often something mean-spirited about it.
But I hope you take heart in knowing people read and appreciate your work.
Forgot to post it, but happy to say I finished Star Ocean: The Second Story R in Japanese a few weeks ago. Took a while, but it was a lot of fun and I do feel it helped improve my Japanese.
Next up, and already started, is Trails from Zero!
Got that too. "Come feed your NDA-protected texts into our engine! Totally free, no catch! We swears".
Right. Mkay.
Not even mentioning the whole "getting your translations approved by the soulless machines" aspect of it all.
"Chonkobo", love it!
What I love is that the "offer" being for Spanish, even though I translate to French, is the least ridiculous part of the email.
Never change, ProZ.
"Offer" received through ProZ, for Spanish audio desc/transcription work. I work from English to French, but this is surprisingly the least funny part of the email.
Behold, the most absurd e-mail I have ever received:
Last Week Tonight's piece, which I recommend watching: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWpg...
Which can at times lead me to wonder whether I am deluding myself as to AI, and whether those who claim "AI is the future" really have it right when I keep thinking that I just don't see it, having seen how inadequate it is when it comes to translation, at least in the game localization field.
I sometimes also worry that, as a translator, I exist in somewhat of an online bubble regarding AI, as nearly everyone I choose to associate with strongly dislikes it also, or is straight up against it altogether.
Having just watched John Oliver's latest piece on Last Week Tonight, which covers AI and specifically AI slop, I feel my dislike of AI is only increasing; or at least of AI as it is being used today.
And that makes me feel very much at odds with the current online trends and hype cycles.
There's also this, which I had missed when it dropped in May: fortune.com/2025/05/09/k...
